Xeomin Ft. Myers
Xeomin® is a new injectable treatment to help temporarily improve the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows. Xeomin is a form of Botulinum toxin, however, unlike Botox® Cosmetic or Dysport® it has a low protein count, which may be beneficial to patients who have an allergic reaction to similar injectables. Type A Botulinum is the active ingredient used in Xeomin. An injection into certain muscles decreases their activity, as Xeomin blocks signals from the nerve that gives the muscle the ability to contract. Xeomin has been proven effective in clinical trials and is now FDA approved.
When a person squints or frowns the muscles between the eyebrows contract, which in turn causes the skin to wrinkle. The older one gets, there is less skin elasticity and less skin recovery from this movement. The skin in the area begins to stay in the wrinkled and furrowed state from repeated frowning and squinting. Xeomin, by reducing the muscle contraction improves or delays the formation of the line or wrinkle.
What to Expect During and After Xeomin Treatment for Frown Line
The procedure takes approximately 10-20 minutes. Anesthesia is not required, but you may opt to use a topical anesthetic or a cold pack to help with any discomfort. After the treatment you are able to go back to your daily activities, as there is no downtime. In as early as 3-4 days one can start seeing results, which will last up to several months, possibly more.
