For more than two decades, patients have flown into Fort Myers from across the country to have surgery with Dr. Ralph Garramone and Dr. Nick Garcia. This page covers what you need to plan your trip, your stay, and your recovery.
Things to Do in Fort Myers Before, Between, or After Surgery
Many traveling patients arrive a day or two early for their pre-op consultation, then build a short post-op stay around their recovery clearance. Strenuous activity is off the table during early healing, but plenty of the area's best experiences are gentle enough to enjoy once your surgeon clears you:
- Stroll the historic Edison & Ford Winter Estates and gardens
- Wander the shops, galleries, and waterfront restaurants of the downtown River District
- Take a quiet sunset drive along the Caloosahatchee River or out toward Sanibel and Captiva Islands
- Visit the famous shelling beaches at Sanibel or the protected coastline at Lovers Key State Park
- Watch dolphins or manatees from the comfort of a calm-water boat tour
Companions traveling with you have even more to do. Fort Myers Beach is roughly 30 minutes south, with seven miles of Gulf shoreline, and Naples is a short drive in the same direction.
